The Scoop On Cheap Hunting Crossbows

What constitutes a good deal on a hunting crossbow? Is it simply the price tag or are there other factors to be put into the equation? Quite frankly, we could argue about this forever however, there is some truth to what I have to say. Everybody likes money – correct? I sure hope so. So the number one aspect of crossbow shopping that comes into place is the price. People want the price low so they usually search for a “cheap hunting crossbow.” Well, listen to what I have to say about cheap x bows and then reformulate your opinion.

Do you know what factors into the price of an x bow? Speed, performance, durability, and customer service are a few big ones. One big factor that most are aloof to is the warranty. So when you pay the extra hundred dollars for a parker crossbow, do you know what you are receiving? That extra hundred or two includes a lifetime warranty and peace of mind. It also ensures that you will be able to contact a service rep and get your crossbow fixed so that you can get back to hunting.

So as you can see, there are a lot of different variables that factor into a hunting crossbow. I hope that most are able to logical deduce from reading this that the idea that the cheapest crossbow for sale is always the “cheapest.” That low price or “deal” sounds enticing at first, but could come back to bite you. From experience, I can honestly say that I have been there. I have purchased a cheaper x bow and have gone through the process of trying to contact a customer service department that seemingly did not exist. It really does stink folks. From those experiences I have learned that it is better to save my money and get the product that I really want, rather than the cheapest deal. Take the Barnett Jackal for instance. If you are like me, then you probably shrugged this model off at first glance because it was one of Barnett’s cheaper, lower line products. You probably thought that “it couldn’t be a high performance hunting crossbow because it is listed for under three hundred dollars.” If you are even more like me, then you probably did a little research as well. From that research you also learned that it had the same proven and tested riser as the barnett wildcat. From that information you said “wait a second,” and reconsidered your options. After learning this bit of information about the Barnett jackal I started to really become a believer. I read a few more reviews from trusted professionals in the market and then tried one out for myself. After that I was convinced. If you are still reading, then you are probably wondering what in the world my point is. I promise you, this insane rambling its purpose. The purpose is to explain to you folks that there are some less expensive, high performance compound hunting crossbows out there that are excellent bows for hunting game species such as the whitetail deer.

Ultimately, it all comes down to what the product has to offer and how it fits the customer. Don’t just base your conclusions on a price tag. I know that times are hard and that money is scarce, but hasty decisions often come back to haunt folks. So read lots of reviews, look at all crossbows within your price range, then go to a local sporting goods store to see if they will let you shoot the bow you have selecting in their designated target room. Only then will you truly know what the best deal on a crossbow is.
