Crossbows are being used more by deer hunters right now than ever. This is most likely die to the fact that many states have loosened up on their laws regarding the use of crossbows for deer hunting. For those of you who aren't Nascar fans, then that means that it is hauling the mail. Now this amazingly fast deer hunting crossbow also comes with a price. A tad bit over 1,000 dollars I believe. But just like anything else, you do get what you pay for - that is in most cases. If it was up to me, and money was not a question, I would without a doubt go with the Barnett Predator crossbow for deer hunting. It does like 375 feet per second which is plenty of speed for my tastes. The real kicker that attracted my attention is the way it looks. I know what your probably thinking and it is not true. I am not immediately attracted and buying everything that looks could because if I would then every decent marketer would have a roll of my money in their pocket. The Jaguar crossbow is a good example for this type of discussion. It only costs $160 and looks great. However, I am a little skeptic about it because of the price. However, most of the reviews on it may be biased, but you never know with reviews.

I actually have a Barnett Wildcat and am really satisfied with it. It came at a decent price and I think that is has a 150lb draw back weight. It shoots decently quiet for adder hunting crossbow and the trigger is simply sweet. By sweet I mean really smooth. When I used to think of crossbows, I would think of this really heavy. un-smooth trigger that would not be fun to shoot. An boy was I wrong! The wildcat, I have to say is worth the money. Welcome to this post on the site that is all about hunting hats! Not to brag or anything, but I am a very experienced hunter and have developed a great deal of knowledge over that time. To be exact, I have been hunting for over twenty years. I understand the importance of having the right equipments to get the job done in the field. More specifically, I understand that having the right clothing makes all of the difference when out in the field. More people like myself also understand this fact, but many underscore the importance of the right headgear. Yes, I am talking about hunting hats and head wear. I see so many people get all dressed up and warm, but spend little effort dressing their heads with the proper clothing. So, in the rest of this article I will be discussing the importance and basic information pertaining to caps and hats.

First of all, I hear so many hunters out there wondering "Does My Hunting Hat Need To Be Camo?" This is a great question and I have some decent feedback on it. Most know that a deer sees in color, so why would it matter if the cap was camouflage or not? In my opinion, it doesn't really make any sense. I mean, in my state we are required to wear blaze orange during the some parts of the season. If deer cannot see this, then why should the color of your hat matter? This is a great topic of discussion in my opinion.

Alright, so lets talk about head wear for hunting. When it gets cold, many hunters switch to wool hunting hats, however many find these to be itchy. If you want to be warm, then you most likely need to wear something besides simply a cap. If you do not like to wear wool, then you can simply use a wrap or baklava. This works like a charm in my experiences. If you are not worried about looking goofy, then I would go with the wool version.

Now that we have discussed staying warm, it is time to talk about other matters. As technology has improved more innovations have been created. Specifically I am talking about lights for hunting hats. Many of these hat companies are now making the caps with led lights built in. The light mechanism is really cool and usually has at least three bulbs. This whole innovation is great for people like me that are sometimes disorganized. Now, as long as I have my hunting hats - I have a flash light.

Another topic dealing with hunting hats is about the type of clothing. I personally do not have a specific preference, it really does not matter. You can call me whatever you like, but I really do not care whether I even have the same brand or style of camouflage on. Some people that I know wont even go into the woods unless their camo matches. Folks, in my opinion hunting is not about making a fashion statement - its about having a good time and harvesting game.
So, the most common camo patterns are Mossy Oak and Realtree. Companies like Columbia, L.L. Bean, Cabela's and Bass Pro make these hats. There are several other patterns that you can use for a hunting hat, but these are the most popular. Within each of these patterns are several other styles for your cap.

This is great for one reason, as the seasons change, the scenery changes. If you were reading earlier then you will remember the discussion about orange hunting hats. More specifically we were discussing whether or not the color of your clothing really made a difference with you success. So, it does matter, but to a certain degree. If you don't have the money to go out and buy some nice clothing, then you could just wear some jeans and a dull green or brown shirt. That would more than likely do just fine if you hold still. However, if you do have the money to buy the right pattern, then it will make a decent difference. Obviously, you will blend in more with your environment and will most likely be less detectable. I think that it is ironic how hunters pay so much attention to how well we blend in and then have to wear the orange vest, which in a sense messes things up. Because turkeys can see in color, a hunting cap or hat is very important, because they have a great sense of eye-sight.

As I was saying a few lines ago, you can select the right camo pattern for your hunting hats to match the scenery. This is great if you want to blend in all of the seasons. As it gets close to winter, everything starts to get dull, and in some parts it snows. There is a snow camo pattern for that.
