As a new year approaches, many of us crossbow enthusiasts
are poised and anxious to see what new developments will be unveiled. Already,
PSE has put out two new xbows for 2011 – the foxfire and crossfire. In my
opinion, these two bows are a nice improvement over the reaper and copperhead.
There has been some talk about Horton’s new developments for
2012 as well. Information has been leaked on a few archery forums about a
reverse draw crossbow called the fury. It is supposed to be an improvement over
its popular predecessor, the vision. Like most reverse limbed xbows, you can
count on this one being quiet. Limited information is known about fury to date,
but some have mentioned that the draw weight is 160 lbs and it shoots an arrow
at about 360 fps. I guess someone in couldn’t keep there mouth shut. Anyways,
it should cost around $799 dollars. In addition to the Horton fury crossbow,
there is talk about another bow; the havoc. For now, this is all the info that
I have.
Another player to watch in 2012 is parker. Parker has
produced quality, affordable crossbows over the years. However, limb failures
have started to drain many users confidence in their products. To restore that
confidence, Parker is supposedly releasing four new bows for 2012. The gale
force 175, tomahawk 160, tornado f4 165,
and the challenger 100 crossbows will be unleashed this upcoming year, probably
at the 2012 ATA show. Prices for these crossbows are supposed to start at $399
for the lower end model and over a $1000 for the upper end.
Carbon express is also supposed to be releasing a new xbow
for 2012. The carbon express covert sls is going to raise a lot of eyebrows. It
is decorated with mossy oak obsession and has green anodizing on the barrel and
cams. It boasts a screaming 355 fps with a 185 pound draw weight. Like the cx2,
it has the tactical pistol foregrip and looks to be very narrow and compact.
